| Former Carolina Panther Making Good in Miami:… | |
As a huge Carolina Panthers fan, I remember all the former players that come through here. The quarterbacks are particularly easy to remember, because they usually were pretty bad. When Kerry Collins(notes) left the Panthers, it took quite some time to get used to not seeing him under center. When Jake Delhomme(notes) left for Cleveland, he was a shell of his former self. When Matt Moore(notes) left in free agency, it was a little bit sad to me. I was one of the guys that championed for Matt Moore here in Carolina, and thought that he got a raw deal. Now, Matt Moore is starting to look great for the Miami Dolphins. I have to admit it makes me happy for him. Matt Moore was the guy that Panthers fans always felt was “waiting in the wings” to get his shot. After the meltdown of Jake in the playoffs against the Arizona Cardinals, and a similar start to the regular season and injury the following year, Matt got his chance. He came in to close the season with flair, and was the toast of Carolina coming into the 2010 season. He ended up playing horribly and giving way to rookie Jimmy Clausen(notes). Ultimately, he was led out of Carolina unceremoniously and headed to Miami. The Dolphins did not see what they had in Matt Moore either right away, but he worked hard and got his shot. After a shaky start, Moore has pulled it together and won three games for the previously winless Dolphins. He is doing it through a number of ways, but accuracy is one of the biggest. In Carolina, Moore was known to have a big arm, and he had a knack for the big play at times. In Miami, he has continued that strong arm, but now has added big time accuracy to the mix. It has led the Dolphins to not only three wins, but three big wins. As Matt Moore makes his bid for a starting position with the Dolphins for the 2012 season, I wish him the best of luck. He was always a popular player here in Carolina and I always felt he had more to offer than we ever got out of him. For better or worse, Matt simply did not work out in Carolina. Now that he is in Miami, I hope that he continues to have success and help the Dolphins to become respectable once again. Note: This article was written by a Yahoo! contributor.
